The number of different rice cookers that are sold in America continues to increase every year. This is great for consumers in that it gives us more choice but it also means we must do more investigation to find out which machine best suits our needs. Today I want to talk about top of the range rice cookers. In particular the Sanyo ECJ-JG10W. This is Sanyo's most expensive rice cooking machine that is available in North America. It costs about $330 if you purchase it from one of the cheapest online vendors. Its RRP is much higher than this. So what do you get for this kind of money?
Weirdly, the Sanyo ECJ-JG10W, which costs over $300 can actually be seen as a really good value rice cooker when you compare it with the Zojirushi NP-HTC10 which has similar features. The Zojirushi machine costs over $400. This makes the Sanyo quite an attractive option. Both these rice cookers have the following technological components, Micom, Induction Heating and Variable Pressure Control. Micom (Micro Computerized) rice cookers start at over $100. Then when you add the Induction Heating feature you are looking at a machine that costs more than $250. Added this, the ECJ-JG10W has the Variable Pressure Control so this adds about another $100 to the price. So we can see that the cost is fair. The question is whether you need these features or not?
If you want a top quality rice cooker then you have no option other than a Micom rice cooker. The difference that Induction Heating makes to the quality of the cooked rice is apparent. The only feature that may not be completely necessary is the Variable Pressure Control. So you may want to have a look at the Zojirushi NP-HBC10 to see what you think. But the Sanyo offers some options that Zojirushi machines do not have, e.g. slow cooker functionality and a vegetable steaming setting.
